What is vector control (closed loop vector) control?
Current s controlled with respect to Torque and flux components in vector control of VFD. This is achieved by VFD based on the rotor position, rotor speed and motor parameters. RPM and torque are controlled rather than output frequency. Relationship between voltage and frequency is decided by operating conditions. In Close loop Vector control generally Encoder is used mounted on motor shaft and spped feedback is given to VFD . As flux and torque components of current are decoupled, fast dynamic response is obtained. Due to this you can achive greater torque even at minimum speed or zero speed.. Applications Such as Crane, Printing, Paper, Elevator needs such kind of VFD where there is peak requirement of accuracy of speed and high torque is required at lower speed. Applications with multi motor cannot work with vector control
What is Sensor-less Vector (open loop vector) Control?
In sensorless vector control mode VFD doesn’t get any speed feedback from Motor. So VFD assumes speed based on parameter data given to it and output frequency. During auto tunning VFD reads the motor parameters such as Flux, resistance, and based on these conditions VFD controls the speed of motor and gives maximum Output torque.
